Does your family have wedding traditions that have been passed down through generations? Are there specific foods that have to be served, songs that need to be played? Are there certain outfits or colors that the couple should wear?
This exhibit looks at the weddings of Danes and Danish Americans, both past and present. As cultural and often religious celebrations, weddings were a way of keeping some traditions alive, but also served as an opportunity to adapt and incorporate new customs. A wedding is a celebration, so come celebrate love with us as you explore Danish-American wedding fashions, food, music, and more!
