Immigrant Babes

Helen Elizabeth (born in 1909) and her sisters Martha and Elsie were daughters of Valdemar “Walter” & Cecelia (Madsen) Jensen. Walter left Denmark at the age of 17 and came to Exira, Iowa, in 1894, where he met and married Cecelia, the daughter of immigrants.

Following Cecelia’s death around 1912, Walter married another Danish immigrant, Martina Sørensen, and had a second family, which included Marion and Lydia Jensen.
