Immigrant BabesThis picture was taken in Graettinger, Iowa, around 1898-99 and shows the four oldest children of Jacob Peter & Carrie (Thomsen) Jacobsen, both of whom came to the U.S. as teenagers. Here we see Maria (born in 1895), Dorothy “Dora” (1894), Julia (1898) and Christina (1892). The family later moved to Bismarck, North Dakota, where six more children joined the family.
