A Smorgasbord of Danish ImmigrantsAndreas was born in Ødis, near Kolding in south-central Jutland in 1868. Nicoline came from the duchy of Slesvig, which was under German control at the time that the couple emigrated together in 1892. They were married at the Nicolai Carstensen farm in Shelby County the following year. They had four sons: Holger, Andrew, Nels, and Victor. Both are buried in the cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.
