There's No Place Like HomeGarland, Wyoming was the homestead of Lars & Johanne Marie Kristensen Petersen. They took up residence in this house on the treeless plains in 1912.
Lars was born in Hjørring County in 1856. He married Johanne Marie in 1885 and the couple immigrated to Council Bluffs, Iowa, the following year. They farmed near there and in nearby Adair and Audubon counties prior to moving to Wyoming, where they raised six children.
